Howdy Ned and Kirk...thank you for your reply but unfortunately I could not just toss him. Most bird releases are not that complicated...put them in outdoor flights a couple weeks to 'weather' then open the door and they come out when they feel like it. Normally I don't go in search of others of it's own kind but in some situations I think it is best for the bird. This was an injured baby, been in rehab awhile, has to migrate, it is late in the year, and he is by himself. To me that's like driving a 2 year old thousands of miles from home...tossing him out of the car in the middle of a huge forest with no food or water and leaving him all by himself to find his way home. I'd rather toss the 2 year old into the campsite of a few experienced hikers that had hiked that forest before and would show him how to do it. I just like to give them the best chance possible...but thank you very much for your suggestions anyway guys... :)
