I have been curious about the successes or failures of the nesting Bald Eagles of SW Ohio. I don't know, nor have I asked, where any of the nests are specifically located, with the exception of the established Brown County nest near Higginsport. Surely someone out there, while protecting the precise localities of the nesting sites, can enlighten us as to whether 2009 was a very good year or not. I am hoping for good news!

Paul, I know the counts for Hamilton County & Butler County. Butler County did not produce this year. Hamilton County produced 2 & fledged 1. I did not hear from the ODNR what Dayton's count was.

There was a news release back in July on this year's success:

Contact Andrea Tibbels for more specific info.
*the Dayton nest was actually a failure this year

Thank you Bruce and Diana for he update and the link. It seems the eagle population had a very good year in the state as a whole. I hope that the local eagles will have more success as they gain experience. I am looking forward to 2010.
