I was curious if the Harris' Sparrow found on the Christmas Count was seen on private property or if I could get information about the exact location it was seen? This bird has eluded me & I would love to add it on the life list!

I received this from Paul Krusling, who saw the bird:

To get to the sight from Columbus: Take I-71 south until you get to I-275

Take I-275 West

Merge onto I-74 West (Towards Indianapolis)

Exit New Haven Road and go East. (You are now in Harrison, Ohio)
You will be passing through Miami-Whitewater Forest/Shaker Trace
Wetlands area) While you are down here, you could check this out.

Stay on New Haven Road for several miles. Look for SR 128, It is
there that you will enter the Great Miami River flood plain. Stay on
New Haven and look for the sign for Fort Scott.

Turn Left on Blue Creek Road, you will see the dumpsters on the right.

Good luck. There were thousands of sparrows and finches in that
field. The previous year there were lots of pipits as well.

I believe he meant Blue Rock Road not Blue Creek Road.

Yes, Blue Rock Road is what I meant.

Dan Sanders and Doreene Linzell from Columbus looked for the Harris' Sparrow on Monday afternoon, Dec. 21, but had no luck. There were very few sparrows seen. They stayed in Cincinnati and Dan tried again on Tuesday morning, Dec. 22. Again no luck. Dan had lots of birds on the north side of Blue Rock Road near the intersection with New haven, but not the right one! Dan had 299 birds for the year for Ohio. He was hoping for Harris' Sparrow for 300. This has been a 15 year quest for Dan to see 300 birds in one year in Ohio.
