Hoping someone else saw the nest directly across the LMR from the overlook. Appears to be a banded leg. Maybe it's been there for a while.
Lots of hawks today between noon and 2. Image at:

I think it is a Red-shouldered, Alan. I know there is a project to band and study their nests in this area.

I think I'm looking at what you're talking about. It's at the bottom of the nest next to the trunk and the "toes" dangle into the light area that kinda looks like plastic? That is pretty interesting. But difficult to say what it is exactly.

Do you have a better resolution or a closer blowup of the area? Though if you did, we probably wouldn't be guessing at what it is. I downloaded the best version that's up but couldn't make anything more out zooming in. Maybe someone will be curious enough to put a scope on the actual nest.

And to be clear, I'm looking at the photo called "Nest across LMR at Armleder Overlook." If there's a whole bird in that shot, I can't see that at all.

The image was with a 500mm lens. I thought I saw a banded leg as I looked through my Swaro bins and took the picture to check out when I got the image on the computer. I watched the nest for about 10 minutes and couldn't see a bird. I don't see one in the image either. The nest is directly across the river from the overlook so I'm sure someone with a scope will check it out.
If it is an active nest, it will make for some great viewing.
Also, I've labeled 3 different views of what I thought was a juvenile RS Hawk in the same Flick'r gallery looking for ID confirmation.
