West Virginia Birding Trip Help

A friend and I are planning a birding camping Trip to WV for spring migration May 4-7. We were thinking the New River Gorge area or the Monongahela National Forest area. However these areas are not certain.

I was hoping some of you may have some experience birding in WV and could give me some info on a good location. I have already searched areas that are spoken of on the Internet but was hoping for some personal experience from anyone that could help. We are hoping for a large variety species near where ever we decide to set up camp. We probably will not travel to far from where we camp.

Thank you and I appreciate your time spent responding.
